General

The Yamaha CBR12 is a passive two-way speaker with a 12-inch woofer and a compression driver with a 1.4-inch voice coil. This speaker can produce up to 350 watts of continuous power with a 700W peak. Furthermore, it features a compact design and a rugged plastic cabinet that makes it suited for a wide range of applications. Because the cabinet is symmetrical, you can use it as a floor monitor, and if you use two CBR12s in a mirrored position you'll get an even more defined sweet spot.

The CBR12 and the 'horn of plenty'

Yamaha designed the Wide-Dispersion Constant Directivity Horn especially for this series. Thanks to the more rectangular dispersion it produces, not only will your audio be able to reach more people, but it will also have better quality and even more clarity. Even at high volumes, the CBR12 delivers excellent quality. A built-in protection system keeps the compression driver safe too, so you don't have to worry about blowing your tweeter out.

Versatility

You'll find that the CBR12 is easy to transport safely thanks to the rugged housing that was designed specifically for folks who travel a lot with their sound systems. From mobile DJs and singer-songwriters to sound installations at conferences and lectures or cafes and theatres, the high power capacity and clear audio provided by this speaker won't disappoint! Rigging points on the top of the speaker make it easy to mount with optional wall mounts, and a slanted side allows you to place the CBR12 at a 50º angle for use as a floor monitor. If you need a speaker for FOH use, you can easily mount the CBR10 on a stand via the 35mm stand adapter on the bottom. Connecting it to an amplifier can be done via either the SpeakON connector or the 6.35mm jack.

Wrote the following about Yamaha CBR12 passive speaker 1 x 12 inches

Mooie speakers bij onze Yamaha EMX5 powered mixer. Ruim voldoende geluid voor zalen met 200 man. Voor meer laag in het geluid zou een subwoofer erbij wel beter zijn, maar ja het zijn dan ook 12inch speakers.

Deze speakers zijn mooi compact in verhouding tot het vermogen. De kunststof behuizing leek mij in eerste instantie goedkoop, maar blijkt van degelijk kunststof gemaakt te zijn; het is sterk, licht en resoneert niet mee op geluid.

De geluidskwaliteit is prima; middentonen zijn helder, hoge tonen zijn niet scherp of schel, alleen de bassen kunnen wat ondersteuning van een extra (sub)woofer gebruiken.
Door middel van een DSP valt dit gebrek aan bas nog wel te goed te compenseren.
Wanneer men de speaker staand plaastst, is de horizontale openingshoek mooi groot; de verticale openingshoek daarentegen is erg beperkt, wat in sommige toepassingen wel handig kan zijn.

Het enige minpunt van de speakers is dat de doorlusmogelijkheid bestaat uit speakon naar 6,3mm jack (of andersom uiteraard). Liever had ik twee speakon aansluitingen gezien.

Vorige week een set van deze speakers ontvangen.
De ene dag besteld de volgende dag geleverd : Super Bax !
Afgelopen weekend getest.
Wat zijn dit een stel fijne speakers.
Zowel hoog, midden en laag zijn uitstekend.
De klank is niet scherp en de hele box geeft een mooi vol geluid.
Ze worden aangedreven met een QSC GX5 versterker en dat blijkt een goede combi te zijn.
Eigenlijk is een subwoofer niet nodig met dit drietal.
Oh ja, ik gebruik een Allen & Heath ZED14 mixer.

Al met al een goede aankoop deze speakers.

Voor de zoveelste keer proficiat " BAX " voor de meer dan vlotte levering, 's middags besteld en 's avonds geleverd !
Prachtige speakers zowel van uitvoering als van klank. Passen naadloos bij mijn "Yamaha EMX 312sc" powered mixer. Zeer zuivere weergave zonder een greintje ruis ook bij hogere volumes.
Deze speakers moeten zeker niet onderdoen voor mijn "JBL Control 10" kasten die ik 22 jaar geleden voor meer dan het dubbele van de prijs van deze gekocht heb (als ik me goed herinner +- 28.000.- BEF per stuk).
