The Triton Audio FetHead Germanium in-line microphone preamp is exactly what you need if you want extra gain and more grit. The subtle saturation of the FetHead stems from the same Germanium transistor that legendary microphone-makers such as Neve, EMI, Telefunken and Fairchild use. It runs on standard 48V phantom power but doesn't pass any on to the connected mike, meaning it's perfectly safe for use in combination with sensitive ribbon microphones.

Please note: The Triton FetHead Germanium does not supply phantom power to a connected microphone. As such, this preamp is not suitable for condenser microphones and other active models that require phantom power.

Wrote the following about Triton Audio FetHead Germanium In-Line Microphone Preamp

Getest met een Shure sm57 getest, voor spraak mooi warm en zeker een mooie aanwinst, echter voor mijn trompet word het toch "te" en ga ik toch voor de neutrale versie. Normaal moet ik de gain helemaal open zetten, en met deze voorversterker hoef ik op mijn Scarlett 18i20 maar een klein stukje open te zetten.

Wrote the following about Triton Audio FetHead Germanium In-Line Microphone Preamp

Agréablement surpris par ce petit Preampli à peine de taille d’un adaptateur XLR.
Il offre une coloration douce et chaude ainsi qu’un gain élevé à mon sm58 branché directement sur ma carte son UR22c.
Plus besoin de pousser le Preampli intégré et donc plus de souffle !
Testé aussi sur une jazzbasse et un micro guitare rosace fishman, grâce à un adaptateur jack femelle / XLR mâle, c’est très efficace pour le prix.
Nécessite une alimentation 48v pour qu’il fonctionne mais ne permet pas de faire suivre l’alimentation à un micro statique.
La version Phantom le fait mais n’a pas de transistor Germanium intégré donc sans doute moins chaud niveau son.
