Ribbon and dynamic microphones naturally have a lower output signal than condenser microphones. This means your preamp has to work harder, which leads to noise more quickly and a less clean signal. The Tilt EQ adds that missing gain before the signal reaches your preamp. This keeps your recording cleaner, and means you don’t have to turn your preamp up to the maximum. For podcasters, musicians and engineers working with these types of microphones, that’s an immediately audible difference.

How to use it

Simply plug the Tilt EQ in between your microphone and preamp or mixer, anywhere along the XLR cable. No separate power supply is required; 48V phantom power from your interface or mixer is sufficient. With that single knob, you can shift the frequency response from low to high, entirely to your taste. Turn it towards ‘warm’ for body on a thin voice, or towards ‘bright’ for greater articulation. Even a snare drum gets that little bit of extra snap with just a slight turn.
