General
Golden Age Audio R1 ST stereo ribbon microphone. One of the coolest things you can do with a set of ribbon microphones is to create a Blumlein stereo setup. You place the two capsules above each other, at a 90-degree angle. Just like an X-Y arrangement, only of course ribbon mics don't have a cardioid but a figure-8 directional characteristic. So they pick up sound from the back as well. So this sounds much more spatial than an X-Y setup. Such a Blumlein setup is quite a hassle with two separate microphones. Hence the Golden Age Audio R1 ST. Hang the microphone in the supplied shockmount above a drum kit or above a piano and you won't know what you're hearing.
