General
Ever since Fender introduced their Precision Bass in 1951, its wicked sound and indestructible construction had a drastic influence on popular music. Currently there's the American Standard P-Bass, a modern interpretation of the Fender classic that has made many bass players into legends. This edition of the American Standard Precision Bass is even better! Equipped with a Custom Shop pickup and several modern upgrades, it features improved looks, sound and playability. This black edition has a rosewood fretboard that gives it a slightly fuller and warmer sound than a maple fretboard would.
American Standard Precision Bass: Custom Shop '60s pickup
Even though there was little left to improve in the first place, Fender have managed to give the American Standard Precision Bass a thorough upgrade. This bass guitar is armed with a Fender Custom Shop '60s split single-coil that produces an authentically large and protrusive P-Bass sound and is equipped with extra windings for more output and punch. The result is a guitar with rich, clear mids and a thundering, tight bass. This in-your-face bass guitar sound is perfect for rougher types of music. The American Precision Bass is the ideal means of filling out the gaps left in the mix by the high-gain guitars of rock and metal guitarists.
Modern improvements for modern-day bass players
In addition to the great-sounding pickup the American Standard Precision Bass has been fitted with several other upgrades. The body's base coat is much thinner than before, allowing the wood to breathe and resonate better. Playability has been improved thanks to medium jumbo frets and a modern, more flat 9.5-inch fretboard radius. Also, the neck of this guitar contains two graphite Posiflex support rods for added strength and stability. The High Mass Vintage bridge features the classic looks but has extra mass for a bigger tone and more sustain. Finally, the 30% lighter Hipshot machine heads provide for a better-balanced instrument and improved tuning stability without altering the classic looks.
