The second generation of Sire's 4-string Marcus Miller V7 basses have received several welcome upgrades, which means you're now getting even more value for your hard-earned money than the already amicably-priced first series offered. To kick things off, this fresh bass comes with two new Marcus Super-J Revolution single-coil pickups, the core magnets of which have been specially treated to get as close as possible to the sound of vintage, Formvar-wound pickups from back in the day. On the other hand, the trusty electronics section has remained largely its successful self and comes with the familiar Heritage-3 18V preamp that lets you toggle between the collections of active and passive sounds and gives you the possibility to cut or boost the 80 to 2000 Hertz mid range as you see fit.

The V7-4 2nd Generation Alder: More Playing Comfort, Sound and Stability

When it comes to playing comfort, you'll notice the maple neck of this Sire bass feels a little different compared to the first generation models. While the neck is still shaped to a C-profile, the fretboard radius of this Marcus Miller signature model has been carefully flattened to 9.5 inches and while they were at it, Sire have thoughtfully rounded off the ebony fretboard edges and fitted the neck with larger, medium-sized frets to accommodate slick bass riffs. A solid Heavy Mass Standard bridge has been installed to bless the V7 with stable tuning, accurate intonation and a tight foundation sound and, to top it off, the classic looks of this bass are tastefully finished with a beautiful ash preamp cover.
