General

This bass will bring you closer than anything else to legendary heavy metal band Slayer's front man/bass player Tom Araya. ESP has updated his signature model in the form of this LTD TA-204 FRX in Black Satin. The most significant change is the shape of the body, which now looks even more extreme. It has a 24-fret neck and a rosewood fretboard with pentagram position markers and the name 'Araya' on the 12th fret. For that well-known sound, this bass features two active humbuckers.

The heart of the Slayer / Tom Araya sound lies in this TA-204 FRX's two active humbuckers. They guarantee low, dark, loud tones as well as bright, clear ones, offering you the best of both worlds. To maintain a good balance of these tones, ESP has equipped this bass with three knobs: one for volume, one for tone and one to adjust the balance between the two. You can choose to blend the neck and bridge pickups, or control them separately. Combined together with an alder body and a rosewood fretboard, all these ingredients allow you to tuck into a tasty meal of pure heavy metal.

The razor's edge

This improved version of Araya's signature model bass looks even meaner than its predecessor, but is still comfortable to play, partially thanks to the three-ply, slender U-shaped maple neck and rosewood fretboard with 24 extra jumbo frets. A graphite headstock and bridge ensure that your strings remain in tune, no matter what.
