Sire continue to further develop and evolve their versatile Marcus Miller V7 5-string basses. This 2nd Generation Alder model not only comes with a similarly appealing price as its predecessor but a number of useful upgrades. Wrap your hand around the neck and you'll feel something you won't quickly find on comparable models: rounded fretboard edges. This, along with a flatter 9.5-inch radius and jumbo frets, significantly improve playing comfort, so you can spit the same licks and riffs as you could with the first generation V7, just with more ease than ever.

The V7-5 2nd Generation Alder: Passive Sound and Active Versatility

Playing comfort isn't the only aspect of this Marcus Miller signature that Sire have continued to hone. Armed with two new Super-J Revolution single-coil pickups that still shape thick, vintage Formvar-style sound but now include a special Alnico magnet ageing treatment, this 5-string bass comes prepared to sling a broad range of classic bass tone. Moreover, since the winning recipe of the versatile electronics section has remained untouched, the highly adaptable V7 offers both passive and active sound and not only comes with a 3-band EQ but the trusty mid frequency control, allowing you to boost or cut the range between 80 and 2,000 Hertz.

Wrote the following about Sire Marcus Miller V7-5 2nd Generation Alder Bright Metallic Red

I did a lot of research before buying this bass as I couldn’t try one locally before buying. The reviews are accurate this is a very well finished quality bass, which looks great and plays very well. The sound/tone in passive mode is fantastic- warm full with as much Jazz bass bite as you want to apply, in active mode the tonal variations are endless but also very useable - the active controls will take a bit of getting used too ( there is just so much variation possible) however I am sure I am going to find some cracking sounds within.
This is a heavy bass ( much heavier than my Fender jazz) but it sounds richer and fuller than my FJ so I can live with the extra weight.
Action was way too high on delivery but adjusted down to a good height easily and I have not needed to touch the true rod at all.
Great quality strings supplied on the bass which adds to a great experience
