With their Streamliner series, Gretsch is focusing on modern guitarists who want to enjoy 'That Gretsch Sound'. Sound and appearance go hand in hand with Gretsch, which is clear when you look at the modernised neck of this G2420 Streamliner hollowbody guitar in black. Its classic finish in combination with the oversized pearloid block inlays and golden Gretsch logo on the black pickguard are the kind of details this legendary brand is known for. The G2420's secret weapon is its pair of Broad'Tron humbucking pickups that ensure sturdy lows, growling mids, and crystal-clear trebles.
Gretsch G2420 Streamliner: construction
The body of this Gretsch G2420 Streamliner is made of laminated maple, a tried-and-trusted material for achieving a clear bass tone. In order to prevent unwanted feedback, the top has been reinforced with parallel tone bars. The neck is made of nato, which has a lot of the same sound characteristics as mahogany. It has a comfortable, modern Thin-U profile and a rosewood fretboard with a 12-inch radius and 22 medium jumbo frets. For optimal intonation, there's a fixed rosewood TOM bridge. All this adds up to a traditional-looking instrument with all the perks of modern technology for a modern sound and playing comfort. To top it all off, two spicy Broad'Tron humbuckers are responsible for an impressive amplified sound.
