Guild Starfire V Transparent Cherry Red semi-hollow body

Pop stars have trusted the Starfire for over 40 years, with Guild producing several generations of this illustrious guitar. From the vintage Newark St. Collection, this is the Starfire V, a semi-hollow body with a Bigsby tremolo, finished in Transparent Cherry Red. Other distinguishing features include the two f-holes and the quirkily shaped opaque Plexi pickguard with Guild logo.

Guild Starfire V: construction

The body, made of laminated mahogany with an arched top and back, has ivory bindings along the edges. With its mahogany construction and semi-open body, the Starfire V produces warm, full bass. Hard to miss is the Bigsby B70 vibrato system with tailpiece, while an Adjusto-Matic bridge with a rosewood base is adjustable for optimal sound balance. The comfortable rosewood neck with 'soft U' profile has 22 frets with pearl-style block inlays.

Electronics

The Starfire V sound is perfect for blues, roots and rock. The two Guild Anti-Hum dual-coil pickups 'like it rough', but are also capable of producing warmer, more subtle sounds. Apart from individual volume and tone controls for each pickup, there is a master volume control and an orange 3-way pickup switch positioned beneath the pickguard.
