Yamaha Live Custom Hybrid Oak Jazz 4-Piece Shell Set (Charcoal Sunburst)

Hybrid Oak Series shells feature an extra layer of phenol to pull even more punch and articulation out of the oak build, while a Bass Enhancement Weight system results in a more focussed kick sound. A single ply of phenol has been sandwiched between the oak plies of each shell, boosting the attack, lengthening the sustain and packing the sound with dynamic, expressive potential. These hybrid shells also boast a wide and stable tuning range and, since this is the jazz configured edition, this set includes an 18 inch by 14 inch kick drum, a 10 inch by 7 inch and 12 inch by 8 inch tom, and a 14 inch by 13 inch floor tom to complete the core of a tight live kit. To finish, each shell has been given a specialised UZUKURI treatment to bring out the natural grain of the oak, putting it on full display. This edition comes in a stage-worthy Charcoal Sunburst.

The Bass Enhancement Weight System

Another unique feature is the Bass Enhancement Weight system. When you look inside the kick drum, the interior has not only been finished in black but fitted with metal weights secured via the tension rods. This extra weight is applied at specific points to tighten up and focus the sound and, combined with the wooden tension hoops and die-cast bass drum claws, results in a formidable kick sound.

The YESS III Tom Mount System

The two included toms are mounted via the unique YESS III system, which is an upgrade on YESS II system. With this improved mount, vibrational leakage is significantly reduced, leaving a more natural sound and even better sustain, while the ball-jointed design supports accurate positioning. Both toms and the floor toms also feature 2.3mm Dyna Hoops to guarantee tight sound and a sharp response and to ensure that you're getting the very best out of the pre-fitted set of Remo Emperor drumheads.
