Taking things further than the Live Custom Series, Yamaha Live Custom Hybrid Oak Series shell sets still feature oak shells, but now come with an extra layer of phenol sandwiched between the wood. The same trick was applied to the high-end PHX Series shells to give the sound a solid boost when it comes to both punch and attack, which is exactly what you're getting with this four-piece, rock-configured shell set. The core is formed by a 22 inch by 18 inch kick drum plus a 10 inch by 7 inch and 12 inch by 8 inch tom, while a 16 inch by 15 inch floor tom completes the setup. Each shell has been sealed in a coat of specialised UZUKURI, which brings out the natural grain of the oak, putting it on full display. This edition comes in Magma Sunburst.

The Bass Enhancement Weight System

Another unique feature is the Bass Enhancement Weight system so, when you look inside the kick drum, the interior has not only been finished with a black coating but fitted with metal weights secured via the tension rods. This extra weight is applied at specific points to tighten up and focus the sound and, combined with the wooden tension hoops and die-cast bass drum claws, results in a formidable kick sound.

The YESS III Tom Mount System

The two included toms are mounted via the unique YESS III system, which is an upgrade on YESS II system. With this improved mount, vibrational leakage is significantly reduced, leaving a more natural sound and even better sustain, while the ball-jointed design supports accurate positioning. Both toms and the floor toms also feature 2.3mm Dyna Hoops to ensure tight sound and a sharp response, so you can get the very best out of the pre-fitted set of Remo Emperor drumheads.
