General
The Grand is Clavia Nord's first stage piano that features three sensors on its hammers instead of sensors on its keys. To achieve this, Nord has outfitted this piano with a Kawai Responsive Hammer Action keyboard. The result is levels of expression and finesse that closely match that of an acoustic grand piano. You have the ability to play subtle pianissimo repeats without having the key return to position, for example. To complete your playing experience, the Grand comes with the Nord Triple Pedal and is equipped with pre-programmed sounds of 10 different grand pianos, 9 uprights, 10 electric pianos and other models from the Nord Piano Library.
Nord Grand: piano, sample, and effects sections
In the end it's still a stage piano but Clavia Nord has ensured there are plenty of options to alter its sound to taste. The piano section contains timbre and EQ settings, as well as String Resonance, Soft Release and Pedal Noise effects. In the sample section you'll find a large assortment of string and wind instruments as well as synthesizers and choirs which can just as easily be replaced using the Nord Sound Manager. To set free your creativity, the effects section contains delay, chorus, pan, compressor effects and more. Lastly, you'll find layering sounds and splitting your keyboard at a specified splitpoint to be a piece of cake.
Connecting options
The rear of the Nord Grand features several different connectors such as line-in and out, a headphone jack, volume pedal connector, MIDI in/out, USB-B (MIDI) and the possibility to hook up the Nord Piano Monitor.
