Dipped in classic red and loaded with a small army of buttons, sliders and knobs, the upgraded Clavia Nord Stage 4 is finally here. One of the most popular series of stage pianos going, the Nord Stage range is every professional's go-to for top-of-the-line sound and smooth hands-on control. While the regular Stage 4 88 and Stage 4 73 feature hammer-action keys, the 73-note Compact edition is made for keyboardists who demand the lighter feel of waterfall-style keys for eased-and-comfortable slides. On top of that, this slightly smaller model is also a little bit easier to bring to gigs.

Features of the Nord Stage 4 Compact

More than just a stage piano, the Nord Stage 4 has been decked out with three sound engines and a mass of effects - more on this in a bit. You're completely free to create your own sounds or simply select one of the many presets. Round the back of the keyboard you'll find every port needed to integrate the unit into your studio set-up or live rig, including MIDI, USB and line outputs, but also sustain, swell, and controller pedal inputs.

The Sounds of the Clavia Nord Stage 4 Compact

The massive number of controls on the face of the Nord Stage 4 are split into four dedicated sections: an organ section, a piano section, a synth section and an effects section. In terms of organs, you get the pick of a Farfisa, a Vox, a pipe organ and the Hammond B3, plus drawbars and rotary speaker simulation, of course. The piano section serves up two gigabytes worth of samples of various pianos, while the synth section is powered by the Nord Wave 2 engine (3 layers) and comes with a 1GB sample memory bank as well as support for round robins and FM synthesis. Last but not least, there's the FX section which is where you'll find modulation effects, reverb, delay and other welcome little tools that can help perfect the sound.
