After the highly popular EWP15LTD-OPN limited edition, Ibanez released the EWP14 in Open Pore Natural. The first thing you'll notice about this piccolo guitar is the compact size of its mini-jumbo shaped body. With a 17-inch scale length that perfectly matches its alternative tuning, the EWP14's mahogany neck is also shorter than usual, so it's still in proportion with the rest of the body. That makes it very easy to transport, and a great fit for people who prefer playing a slightly smaller guitar.
EWP14: Ovangkol top and Open Pore Natural finish
This Ibanez steel-string has a top, sides and back made of ovangkol. Ovangkol is a durable wood type that gives this EW piccolo a buttery core sound with a slight emphasis on the mids, and trebles that are never too sharp. Together with the rosewood fretboard and aforementioned mahogany neck, this results in an interesting combination of wood types. Finally, the EWP14 features a tasteful Open Pore Natural finish and comes tuned in ADGCEA, a quarter note higher than regular guitars.
