The Auratone 5C is equipped with a single woofer, placing the main focus on the mid-range which results in a roughly 70 to 15,000 Hertz frequency response. Also, since there's only one woofer, you won't have to deal with any crossovers and the potential phase issues that come with them. If your primary pair of studio monitors feature 8-inch woofers and cover the sub-bass freqs, then the Auratone 5C is perfect for exposing any flaws in your mixes, forcing you to tweak the higher low-end until there's at least a hint of bass. Here, you get a pair cloaked in black, and while they can't serve as your main studio monitors, they're indispensable as secondary units if you want to make sure that your productions sound bang-on - even when played back by a radio alarm clock.
