The PM0.5d by Fostex is an efficient studio monitor with a 5-inch fibreglass woofer and a 0.75-inch silk dome tweeter. This DSP monitor boasts a total output capacity of 58 watts and features a bass reflex housing that give lower frequencies more space without causing unwanted vibration. Connect the speaker using the TS jack and RCA inputs. The compact size of this monitor makes it easy to place it on your desk and even use as a high-quality computer speaker. Audio is produced over a broad frequency range of 55 Hz to 30 kHz so every detail is clear as day.

Wrote the following about Fostex PM0.5d B active studio monitor (Single), black

Quite a surprise this small monitor still housing a 5" bass/mid driver in one of the smallest bousings possible. It actually goes quite low and its midband resolution is very satisfying. There is no DSP, no shelfing filters, no room EQ etc. Only a level control. I had to return it even though I liked it a lot. Reason: The calculated backside bass reflex port was calculated for a rather low f0 and it start chuffing quite early around midvolume already. Even though it can go quite load it would start early to distort and cannot handle great dynamics so well at mid to higher volume. Thus the headroom is capped. I contribute this to the use of class D amping inside. I used for monitoring but as well as a keybord monitor. In the 2nd case here it does not do well unless volume is rather low. Especially if you blast with some nice synthesizer sounds. But as well playing piano and going from ppp to fff can crap it out if too loud. A bit of a shame as it really is a nice compact good sounding monitor.
