KRK Rokit RP7 G4 (2x) + stands + monitor calibration + pads + cables

I had made the decision to upgrade my studio monitors due to the fact that my smaller speakers could not project any bass ....and having to guess at what was happening to it is probably not best mixing practice. I decided to go with the Rokit RP7 g4 as being the best fit in my small studio, the specs seemed right, KRK are a massive brand and they have the very useful iPhone App to set the speakers up and tune them to the room.
BAX had the best price on the web and with a Black Friday deal on top, sorted!
The speakers turned up on time via UPS, however one of the boxes was was pretty bashed up when it arrived, which made me instantly :-( Not to worry however, there was a box within a box, within a box and lots of cushioning around the speakers. All turned out well, :-)
The speakers were easy to connect and they sound great. I used the iPhone App when I finally got the right connectors and all is well.

The good stuff:
-well packaged
-easy to connect and set up with App
-great sound
-I now have bass

The not so good stuff:
-the connectors required had to be sourced from Amazon. You need to connect: iPhone Lightning>mini jack (stereo)>standard jack (Stereo) lead split to x2 mono standard jacks ....then into speakers. (There are other ways of doing it but just as fiddly, if you have not got the connectors to hand)
Might be a good idea to give/sell a lead (or the option of adding a lead) with the speakers when purchasing.

All that said ....I'm a happy customer with some great new speakers!

I don't usually leave reviews but I have found Bax Music super helpful in finding the right speaker - I have used there 60 day return policy a few times and I now have the right speaker!!!! Onto the speaker review. I use my monitors to Dj monitor at home in a fairly small space my wife allows me too!!!!!. I had a pair of Rokit 5 G3 which were garbage - I ungraded to rokit 6 G3 which were better but by no means great but for my usage the amplification levels worked ok - I didnt want to buy a sub as just didnt have the room. I have the Rokit 6's for about 2 years. I wanted an upgrade with a bit more depth and punchiness ........ I've tried a few monitors out recently and if im honest it loathed me try the G4 version of the Rockets. - I tried the 8s out, they were on sale so very good value, physically they were absolutely MASSIVE but I have to say sounder fantastic! They were just too bigger a housing for the small space I have. I exchange them for the 7's and I have to say - spec for spec on paper they look far weaker than the G4 Rokit 8's any almost of not slightly worse than the outgoing Rokit 6 G3 but ........ what a difference - punchy, detailed sound that's not fully of woolly base. I am SUPER IMPRESSED by the Krk Rokit 7's. Decent price, decent size, better then decent sound ( for my usage ). I think id recommend for a home DJ set up who useless something better then a DDJ-400 - I use mine with a DB4 and 2 x K2's running traktor 3 and they sound amazing in a the space I have and I think a sub would be over kill!

I got it on sale and thought it was still probably an expensive toy... now I realize it's cheap at full price. The set up is a bit long-winded but it's very clear and obviously works, because the results are great. I thought I'd just be fixing a few frequency issues with my room, but honestly the biggest change was the difference it made to the stereo field - I'd never realized how off my centre was. Night and day, can't live without it now.

it's one of these things that once you do it, there's no coming back. My sound system now sounds crap if I turn this off. To be fair, my room has some serious acoustic problems, but I was still amazed by how well Reference handled them. my mixes sounds much better
