General
While the VM-80 is the follow up to Pioneer's professional S-DJ series monitors, in terms of performance and design, it might as well be a trillion miles away. This active, DJ-focussed monitor has been finished with an angular face-plate that bears a closer resemblance to a club speaker than a DJ or studio monitor, and since the VM-70 comes backed up by an 8-inch woofer and 120 Watts of power, this beefy monitor is built for larger audio set-ups in bigger spaces.
Active DJ & Studio Monitor in One
What sets the VM Series monitors so far apart in terms of both acoustic design and performance is that, while they're labelled DJ monitors, they perform with just as much proficiency when set up as studio monitors. This is definitely due to the audio flexibility provided by the digital sound processors. The DSP loaded into each model provides a sweet fistful of unique audio settings that have been specifically calibrated for unique situations. So the low-end and high-end frequencies can be individually adjusted to shape the optimum response depending on the space; to create club-style power, punch, and ground-shaking bass; or to provide the flat, detailed and honest response that's essential for mixing and production. These powerful all-rounders serve up way more than just in-your-face sound.

Absolutely delighted with these speakers, the tight punching bass, the clarity the list goes on and on,
I have had many speakers over the years, these are easily the best in this size range I have ever owned, massive thumbs up at Pioneer for getting things right here and delighted with the great service from Bax music.

Na een aantal positieve reviews gelezen te hebben, heb ik deze besteld. Ik had hoge verwachtingen van deze speaker en helemaal om de setting "Club Bass". Helaas merkte ik al bij het aansluiten dat er zoveel ruis uit deze speakers komen dat je er meteen aan begint te irriteren.
Ik heb zelf KRK's Rokit 8's gehad en heb ook nog een setje Pioneer S-DJ60X staan en beide hebben minimaal ruis vergeleken bij deze VM-80's. Ik ben naar BAX A'dam gegaan om te gaan vergelijken maar daar hebben ze helaas bijna niks staan qua Pioneer monitors. Het zou natuurlijk kunnen wezen dat ik toevallig een kneusje uit de serie heb gekregen met heel veel ruis. Het maakt ook niet uit hoe hoog je het volume hebt staan op de speaker of op je mixer. De ruis blijft op hetzelfde volume niveau.
Ik had gehoopt eindelijk een actieve speaker te vinden voor thuis om lekker te gaan knallen vanaf mijn DJ-set en ook met de hoop dat de Club-bass setting mij zou helpen om ze ook te gebruiken in de huiskamer met een feestje maar helaas. Het positieve is wel dat hij qua power echt overtreft. Deze speakers kunnen echt lekker beuken. Helaas is de ruis te luid. Je gaat hier gewoon aan irriteren. Als Pioneer dit gaat verbeteren in de toekomst, dan kom ik direct terug.
Ik ben nu al een aantal dagen aan het kijken voor een alternatief maar heb nog niets. Alle tips zijn welkom. Ik draai trouwens vanaf een XDJ-XZ.

Deze Dj/Studio monitoren van PioneerDj klinken zeer goed en zien er ook nog eens mooi en modern uit. Zelf gebruik ik ze voor aan mijn dj set. Het geluid van de monitoren is "Punchy" en gedetailleerd. En als je wil kan je heel gemakkelijk op de achterkant het geluid nog wat aanpassen. Ik ben zeer tevreden met deze monitoren.
