Moog, the legendary brand of the late Bob Moog, still has a loyal base of followers. And rightly so, as instead of resting on their laurels, Moog's engineers are going out of their way to develop new models, as well as interesting variations on their beloved, classic synths. Take the Moog Sub 37, for instance, a paraphonic analogue synthesizer for eager sound designers reminiscent of the Sub Phatty. The Moog Sub 37 is able to perform in monophonic or duo-paraphonic mode, is composed of high-quality components and offers numerous tonal possibilities. Excellent for both live and studio applications, this delectable synth will keep you occupied for quite some time.
De Moog Sub 37 - Paraphonic
Like keyboards, organs, virtual synths and similar instruments, a synthesizer usually has an autonomous signal path per voice (struck key) - in other words, a complete, monophonic synthesizer including filters, LFOs and envelopes for each note. As such, a synthesizer functions in the same way as other instruments with autonomously operating strings, such as pianos or harps. A paraphonic synthesizer, however, features a polyphony of multiple voices that share a single set of filters, envelopes, etc. There aren't many paraphonic synths, so the Sub 37 is quite exceptional to play and to hear. You can decide for yourself whether you want the envelopes to be re-triggered with each new note.
Sound options
The Moog Sub 37 offers a wide range of tonal options. It features two oscillators (with sawtooth, triangle, square and pulse waveforms) with hardsync functionality, a sub oscillator, a noise oscillator and an external input. Various filter options are at your disposal too, including cutoff, resonance, multidrive and four slopes (6, 12, 18 and 24 dB), while two LFOs allow you to experiment with waveforms and modulation. ADSR envelopes are present for filter and amplitude, and a programmable arpeggiator seals the deal. From screaming leads to punchy basses and unearthly sound effects: with the Moog Sub 37, you can have it all and then some.

Als je niet de centen hebt voor een Voyager of de nieuwe Model D, maar twee octaven te weinig vindt (het grote nadeel van de sub phatty) en je wil die enorme sound, een goed keyboard en eindeloze tweak mogelijkheden dan is dit het helemaal. Klinkt geweldig, alle belangrijke knoppen direct toegankelijk zonder teveel menu gedoe. twee superoscillators plus een suboscillator, noise, feedback, schitterend reagerende enveloppen... ach genoeg. Kopen, spelen, creëren. En anders gewoon een uurtje neerzetten en er echt naar kijken. Mooi.
