All good things come to an end, and that's no different for the Yamaha MODX. Luckily, its successor stands ready to step in: the Yamaha MODX 7+. Simply put, you're looking at a synth/workstation that's more complete than ever yet weighs just a little over 7kg, featuring a 16-track sequencer and both the AWM2 engine (Yamaha's own sample-player) and the high-performance FM-X engine.
The Yamaha MODX 7+
Loaded with an extensive sequencer and a broad palette of sounds, the MODX+ is perfect for music production without the need for a computer. This stand-alone unit runs on a 128-voice AWM2 engine for the instrument samples but also comes with a 128-voice FM engine, setting you up with eight operators per voice for multi-layer samples at the cost of no extra voices. Once you get the hang of it, the potential is massive - just like the 1.75GBs of flash memory storage for user samples.

As it's technically a 256-voice synthesizer, the Yamaha MODX 7+ is fully prepped for the stage, serving up pianos, strings, organs, brass and more - all in the highest possible quality. Outfitted with an ever-useful audio interface, it's a welcome addition to any band due its versatility, including solo performers thanks to the option to plug in a dynamic microphone. Set it up in the studio and weave extremely detailed sounds using the intuitive touch-screen display and the Super Knob to control the Motion-Sequencer or the Envelope-Follower with the help of the Motion Control-engine.
