The Yamaha SEQTRAK is a portable little synth that gives you more options than you might expect upon first glance. It's clearly aimed at producers, composers and musicians that are always on the move, and definitely fits the age of the smart device we're in currently living in.

The Yamaha SEQTRAK

Back in the day, 'portable' gear simply referred to slimmed-down gear that had nowhere near as much to offer as bits of kit that weren't designed to be lugged around. Fortunately, times have changed. The SEQTRAK hooks you up with eleven tracks, including seven drum tracks, two AWM2 synth tracks, a DX track and a sampler track. On top of that, you're set up with a solid stack of effects, a sequencer, an arpeggiator, a 24-bit/44.1 kHz, stereo USB audio interface, and USB-MIDI. The included sample-based AWM2-engine is the same one that powers many Yamaha synths and keyboards, and boasts over 2,000 sounds and a 128-voice polyphony, while the DX engine is an 8-voice/4-operator FM engine. In other words: options a-plenty!

Over on the right, the SEQTRAK has been outfitted with a streamlined sound-tweaking section. Over on the left, you're looking at two rows of eight sequencer steps - just enough to label it an x0x-style lay-out. Yamaha SEQTRAK BK Synthesizer

Mijn eerste apparaat in deze categorie, ik ben gewend muziek te produceren met Logic en soft-synths. Dit is een totaal andere benadering van muziek maken en daardoor erg interessant. De app helpt heel erg om het apparaat makkelijker te bedienen en het aansluiten van een extern midi-keyboard geeft ook veel extra (speel)mogelijkheden.

Sounds die erin zitten zijn erg goed en uitgebreid! Speakertje is waardeloos, hadden ze beter achterwege kunnen laten. Ook onhandig dat als je via USB een extern apparaat aansluit dat je de device dan niet kan opladen.
