The Yamaha SEQTRAK is a portable little synth that gives you more options than you might expect upon first glance. It's clearly aimed at producers, composers and musicians that are always on the move, and definitely fits the age of the smart device we're in currently living in.

Back in the day, 'portable' gear simply referred to slimmed-down gear that had nowhere near as much to offer as bits of kit that weren't designed to be lugged around. Fortunately, times have changed. The SEQTRAK hooks you up with eleven tracks, including seven drum tracks, two AWM2 synth tracks, a DX track and a sampler track. On top of that, you're set up with a solid stack of effects, a sequencer, an arpeggiator, a 24-bit/44.1 kHz, stereo USB audio interface, and USB-MIDI. The sample-based AWM2-engine powers many Yamaha synths and keyboards and boasts over 2,000 sounds and a 128-voice polyphony, while the DX engine is an 8-voice/4-operator FM engine. In other words: options a-plenty!

And There's More

Over on the right, the SEQTRAK has been outfitted with a streamlined sound-tweaking section. Over on the left, you're looking at two rows of eight sequencer steps - just enough to label it an x0x-style lay-out. In terms of sampling, you get a built-in microphone as well as a built-in speaker so you don't have to fuss with an external speaker. Lastly, the AWM2 engine spares several hundred MBs worth of storage capacity for custom waves, so what are you waiting for?
