General
Korala's PUG-40 guitaleles are very compact six-string instruments. Their size makes them the perfect items for children and as a travel instrument. The big advantage of a guitalele as opposed to a ukulele is that the former has six strings, just like a regular guitar! Even though it has a higher tuning (ADGCEA), the way you play the chords is identical to that of a full-size guitar. In case you want to amplify the cheerful sound of your guitalele, Korala also offers this electro-acoustic version with a piezo pickup and jack output. Ideal for stage performances!
Construction of the Korala PUG-40E-BK
The body and neck of this black Korala PUG-40 are completely made of acoustically optimised polycarbonate. Tone-wise, it is just as good as wooden instruments with the same price. The bid advantage of synthetic material is that, contrary to wood, it is impervious to weather changes, which makes this Pug-40 the perfect travel companion for musicians on the go. An instrument as small as this Korala generally isn't loud enough for an on-stage performance, which is why they also make this PUG-40E-BK version with a piezo pickup. Plug and play!
