General
Learning a string instrument often sounds like months of practice before anything recognisable comes out of it. A ukulele works differently: it is small, manageable and strung with just four nylon strings, which makes it one of the friendliest instruments to start on. And if you are starting anyway, you may as well go a size bigger. The CUC100 from Cascha is a concert ukulele, slightly larger than the familiar soprano size, with a scale length of 38 cm and a total length of 61 cm. That keeps it compact enough to pick up from the sofa on a whim, while advanced players get plenty out of it too.
Materials and fittings
The top, sides, back and neck are made of linden wood, finished in matte so the wood stays visible under the brown colour. The fingerboard and bridge are WPC, and the nut is white synthetic material, measuring 3.5 cm across. On the headstock sit precise guitar-style tuning machines; together with the high-quality Aquila nylon strings, they hold the instrument in standard G-C-E-A tuning, which saves you a lot of retuning between songs. Three plectrums are already in the box, and a padded gig bag comes with it for when you play your ukulele somewhere other than at home.
