In doing so, the lowest strings get an octave companion and the higher strings an extra string with the same tone, giving a fuller, richer sound with a natural chorus-like tone. Very similar to the effect of a 12-string guitar, but in the compact size of a tenor ukulele. Ortega has built the body of the ukulele entirely from mahogany. This results in a warm, round tone that suits strumming and melody playing well. And the fingerboard and bridge made of black walnut give a clear and direct articulation when pressing the notes!
