General

The Tascam DA-6400 is simply a crucial multi-purpose unit for larger studio productions. Just to clarify, this is not your run-of-the-mill multi-tracker designed to record 64 microphones. It is a sort of backup solution for when you've just completed your latest Pro Tools editing session. So, when your project is finished, you might want to mix your tracks (64 at 48 kHz or 32 at 96 kHz) somewhere else. After recording your tracks with the DA6400DP, you can disconnect the entire unit and take it with you to another studio for the final mixing process. If the other studio already has a DA-6400(DP), simply removing the SSD card will suffice. Want another interesting example? Say you record 64 instrumentalists in a recording studio, and all these tracks are sent to your DAW. If the DA-6400DP is connected correctly, you can use it to make an immediate backup of all these tracks.

DA-6400: fast, dynamic and dependable

For maximum compatibility with studios in the broadest sense of the word, this Tascam is compatible with MADI, DANTE, DigiLink, AVB and AES/EBU. Even in the most unanticipated situations, this unit is a real hard-working machine. Everything functions fast and intuitively, and recordings are saved automatically every twenty seconds. Where Tascam really gave some thought to this product, which is also what determines the DP supply, is the double power feed. It allows you to hook up two power cables simultaneously. If one of those cables should break, or if a problem should occur in the power source, then the backup power supply ensures continual recording. That's handier than you might think. Whoever wants to record 64 musicians is paying a small fortune! A backup power supply and recorder are therefore a huge advantage you'll be grateful to have, sooner or later.

Ideal mobile backup solution

The total weight of the Tascam DA-6400 is about 3.5 kg, making it ideal for those who need to be mobile. Its light weight makes this unit easy to transport to and from various locations. For example, the DA-6400 can easily be used in a practise room for rehearsal, then packed up and set up again for the sound check before a live performance. In addition to its dependability, this is a great alternative for the heavier 19-inch units that are often used in studios. An SSD card, plus case, is included.

Tascam Launches the DA-6400DP, Individual MADI Cards and Drive Bay

Tascam is known for its high-quality audio and studio recording solutions. This time, Tascam proudly presents the DA-6400DP, the DA-6400, and two MADI cards, the IF-MA64/EX and the more affordable IF-MA64/BN. Tascam also offers the AK-CC25 SSD storage case as a separate item as well. Normally, these are included with every purchase of a DA-6400(DP), but are also available separately in case your current case needs replacing, or if you need an extra drive bay.
