The American Audio CPX-8A is a powerful, compact active speaker. The speaker features a rugged composite housing and is equipped with a steel grille for optimal protection of the components. This, of course, makes the CPX-8A ideal for mobile use or in a fixed installation. One of the great features of this monitor is the variety of ways in which it can be used. As with most speakers, you can set it on the ground or mount it on a stand, but it can also be used as side-fill or as a floor monitor during a performance or in a DJ booth. The CPX-8A is also equipped with five M8 flying points, making it easy to fly from a truss.

CPX-8A: inside

The 2-way speaker is equipped with a class D amplifier with 200 W of power. It is also bi-amplified and has a crossover, which means that the 8-inch woofer and the tweeter are powered separately, resulting in a full, smooth, detailed sound.

Built-in mixer

The CPX-8A features an internal mixer, which is equipped with a mic input with volume control, a line input with volume control, as well as master volume and EQ controls. All of these features make the system ideal for schools, churches, or for presentations. Should you wish to use it in combination with a second speaker, it can easily be connected with an XLR connector, thanks to the Thru output.
