General

For over a decade, the Roland SPD-SX has been a must-have for any professional and creative drummer, and now, in response to user feedback, Roland present the next level end-boss of the sampling-pad-verse with the SPD-SX PRO. Tweaked, enhanced and improved on all sides, the PRO raises the reliability, the sound quality, the level of creativity, and even the game of the included software to complete a highly impressive sampler that's been fully set up for the performing musician. Team it up with the free Editor App and gain access to the 1,550 internal sounds, 200 ready-made kits, extensive sample editing and layering options, and plenty more.

Maximum Dependability

To aid navigation on a dark stage, each pad has been divided by a colour-coded LED strip, and the colour and light mode can be customised to further improve visibility. The multi-coloured 4.3 inch menu screen has also been enlarged and the buttons and control knobs are now backlit, so you're not just getting improved control over the performance, but the days of fumbling around in the dark to flip through patches or tweak effects are over. Thankfully, the sensitivity of the three shoulder pad triggers has also been raised so they respond more consistently no matter the angle of the strike.

Sound Quality & Creativity

While the SPD-SX was largely dependent on the internal sound quality, the SPD-SX PRO offers much more support. Internally, this next-gen sampler pad works with a 48 kHz and 16 bit audio resolution, but will also work seamlessly with other audio formats and will even correct them internally, so there's no longer any need to convert samples to ensure the correct resolution. Next to that, the balanced Master and Direct outputs deliver a cleaner and clearer signal, even when bridging wider distances, and extra outputs can be routed and assigned via the software to give the sound engineer more options. To finish, this pad features an internal audio/MIDI interface that supports eight channel recording and twelve channel playback.
