General

If you're looking for a compact digital piano that sounds great and doesn't cost you an arm and a leg, you can't go wrong with the Yamaha P-145. Coming in at a little over 11kg, this portable digital piano is easy to get around, set up and put aside. It picks up where its popular predecessor left off, offers piano app support, and can be optionally turned into a fully-fledged piece of furniture with the matching L-100 (sold separately). A superb choice for beginners.

The Sound of the Yamaha P-145

As almost always, Yamaha have taken the sublime sound of one of their costly grands (the CFIIIS) and crammed it into the P-145, which is not to say there's nothing else to choose from since you're getting a total of ten voices. Meanwhile, the clean control lay-out keeps the playing experience nice-and-fuss-free. Equipped with a USB (to host) port, the P-145 can even be used as an audio interface and, besides a headphone output for silent practise sessions, comes finished with sustain pedal input and a 3-pedal unit input.
