General

Ibanez present the latest addition to their SRC Crossover Series: the SRC6MS. This 6-string Bass Workshop offering has a multi-scale length and comes tuned an octave lower than a standard six-string, meaning it can just as easily double as a baritone guitar. Furnished with fanned frets, the 5-piece jatoba/walnut neck graduates from 30 inches at the bass strings to 28 inches down by the treble strings, resulting in extra-tight lows and a supple treble-string feel. Meanwhile, the nice-and-narrow 10.8mm string spacing, the stable Mono-rail bridge and the relatively slim SRC6 neck lift the playability through the roof.

The SRC6MS: Extensive Tone-Tweaking Options

The taut lows and the rounded yet pointed highs shaped by the snug okoume body of this Bass Workshop model are actively amplified by an Ibanez Custom Electronics preamp and two Bartolini BH2 soapbar pickups for a fat stack of full, mid-rich sounds. The sound of both pickups can be custom-mixed with the balancer pot and perfected using the 3-band EQ, but you also have the option to activate the EQ bypass to use the treble control as a passive tone pot.
