General

Epiphone and lead guitarist Kirk Hammett of Metallica present his 1979 Flying V signature electric guitar. This solidbody is based on his own Gibson Flying V made in the late 1970s, which you frequently used for his guitar parts on all the legendary records of this iconic American metal band. Needless to say, the body is made of mahogany and is glued a 1-piece mahogany neck with that period-correct and stable volute at the headstock. Just above, by the way, you'll also find Kirk's own logo. The guitar neck has been given a rounded C profile, making it instantly familiar in your left hand as you play away your licks and riffs over 22 frets on the laurel fingerboard.

To more than adequately amplify that familiar warm basic sound, parent company Gibson supplies a set of its own USA Calibrated T-Type humbuckers and you'll find 3 CTS potentiometers with Orange Drop capacitors aboard this Kirk Hammett solidbody. With the 2 volume knobs, 3-way element switch and a dial for tone, you can bring out considerable palette of classic double-coil tones with this Epiphone guitar with just a bit more much-needed bite. Meanwhile, the Custom Bridge, LockTone Stop Bar, Graph Tech nut and Grover Rotomatic tuners ensure excellent stability. This 1979 Flying V signature comes standard in a black hardshell guitar case with luxurious red plush interior.

Je me suis offert cette guitare Flying V signature KH pour mon plus grand plaisir. La qualité est juste incroyable et le son n’en parlons pas. Après quelques réglages on a vraiment l’impression d’être un membre Metallica. Le seul point à revoir selon moi concerne le plastique à retirer au niveau des micros. Beaucoup trop pénible à enlever. À part ça la guitare est juste magnifique. La case est super quali.

J’avais beaucoup hésité avant de passer commande et une promotion m’a décidé. Franchement je ne suis pas déçu, elle sonne terrible et la lutherie est excellente, je suis ravi. J’enlève une étoile à cause du setup qui était le plus désastreux que j’ai jamais vu sur une guitare neuve : manche banane, intonation injouable, touche sèche. Une bonne heure de travail et c’est parti, mais quand même, à ce prix et pour le haut de gamme d’Epiphone je suis étonné qu’elle quitte l’usine comme ça !
