General

For true, realistic stereo recording, a set of two identical microphones are unmissable - or better yet, two perfectly matched microphones. This matched pair of SE Electronics small-diaphragm SE7 stereo condenser microphones have been carefully and precisely matched in the workshop. The cardioid pickup pattern of each microphone is able to handle pretty much any sound source, while the fitted -20dB attenuator means this dream-team can even take the pressure of full drum kits and percussion. If anything starts to drone, you can simply use the provided 80Hz low-cut filter. This studio multi-tool of a matched pair comes complete with a set of a clips and windshields.

Wrote the following about SE Electronics SE7 Matched Pair of Small-Diaphragm Microphones

A great quality pair of SDC microphones for an excellent price. I bought these to capture some sharper stereo acoustic guitar recordings. Safe to say they do a great job and also work well when pairing one SDC with a LDC microphone. They pickup lots of detail with a good level of accuracy, so I'm very happy in my home recording setup. The only downside is the lack of carry case or decent box. The original packaging isn't great.

Zojuist mijn tweede set besteld om twee stereokoppels gelijktijdig te gebruiken. De eerste set overtuigde me van de geluidskwaliteit - helder, gedetailleerd en natuurlijk klinkend genoeg voor mijn gehoor. Ik neem er koren en koren samen met orkesten mee op. Als je zoals ik geen geld hebt voor omni's, is dit - met de juiste plaatsing en spatiëring - een goed en degelijk alternatief. De ruis vind ik voor deze prijs verwaarloosbaar klein.

De microfoons zijn degelijk gebouwd, zien er stijlvol uit en worden geleverd met een robuuste microfoonhouder. Ik gebruik het high pass-filter en de 20dB-schakelaar nooit, maar omdat de schuifjes in de behuizing verzonken zijn, verander je de instellingen echt niet zomaar per ongeluk. Misschien het enige minpuntje is dat de lak rondom de xlr-aansluiting makkelijk beschadigd, maar dat is cosmetisch - ze worden er rond die aansluiting 'road worn' van, zullen we maar zeggen.

Stel je kortom geen torenhoge eisen aan een kleinmembraan met cardioïde karakteristieken - want nee, het zijn geen Neumanns - dan zit je met dit matched pair goed.
