General

This elegant full-sized electric arch-top breathes classic vintage style and sound alongside modern playability. Finished with all the deco-style D'Angelico hallmarks, this is the Excel 59. The hollow body is a faithful echo of the original John D'Angelico design from 1959 but has been graced with a few sweet and modern tweaks, bringing the playing feel up to par while retaining the convincing look and sound of a genuine antique jazz-box. The Excel 59 comes complete with a deluxe hardshell case.

The Excel 59: Elevated Sound & Comfort

The pair of mounted Seymour Duncan Great Dane P-90 pickups and 'chickenhead' three-way selector switch don't just grant unlimited access to pure Jazz, Soul, or old-school Rock 'n Roll tone, but also the sonic flavours of light Classic Rock and even Indie and Shoegaze. Whatever the playing style, the sound can be quickly brought to shape via the smooth feel of the 'cupcake' tone and volume pots. The depth of the full-sized 16-inch body has been shaved down and coupled with a C-profile neck for maximum playing comfort, while the flatter-than-average ebony fretboard, medium-jumbo frets and shorter 25 inch scale length provide a tight and fluid playing feel. Besides the fitted set of Grover Imperial tuners, this devoted love note to a D'Angelico original comes finished with a character-packed Stairstep tailpiece and a Tune-O-Matic bridge
