The Tech 21 SansAmp RBI is a rack-mountable and more extensive version of the popular SansAmp Bass Driver DI pedal. With this high-quality DI and preamp in one, you can shape your bass sound in minute detail before sending it directly to your mixing desk. Fitted with a jack and an XLR output with individual volume control, you can simultaneously hook the SansAmp RBI up to a power amp and bass cabinet as needed.

The versatile RBI

You can determine the tonal colour of the bass input with the drive (gain/overdrive), presence (more harmonics and attack), blend (signal/effect), bass, mid and treble controls. In addition, the RBI has an effects loop connection that can be set to series or parallel and, via an optional footswitch and the FS input, the device can be turned on and off at will. If you want to use a second SansAmp RBI, the footswitch output can linked up to switch between both.

in navolging van sander...
heb laatst de DI gebruikt en de versterking van de DI terug gedraaid naar 3. dat was genoeg.
omdat er geen ground-lift switch opzit, had ik zelf ground-lift verloop kabeltjes gemaakt. just in case.
deze ( ik heb 2 sans-amp's ) waren niet nodig. geen ruis of brom gehoord.

wel heb ik gemaild naar Tech21, waarom ze geen ground-lift schakelaar op de amp had, maar het bleek dat de big-boss dat niet wilde. misschien hebben ze voor dit probleem een andere oplossing. ( wat mij sterk lijkt. )

verders gebruik ik noch de toonregeling noch het buizengeluid. all I need zit op mijn bas.
wat wel super is zijn de aantal ingangen en uitgangen. op de achterkant. je kan met dat apparaat alle kanten op

Lang gezocht naar 'mijn' sound, gevonden in de RBI!

Drive en presence zijn de koppen die het voor mij doen.

Drive laat je amp klinken als een gloeiende buizenbak. Zonder hem echt 'blubberig' te laten klinken.
Presence draait de attack erbij. Je hoort buiten al het laaggeweld ook nog goed het aanslaan van de snaren en tonen in het hoge raster.

Tech 21 levert in de handleiding ook een aantal presets. Je kan de RBI als bijna elke buizen bass amp laten klinken! Denk aan de sound van b.v. Ampeg SVT en Fender Bassman.

De RBI is op nog veel meer vlakken een erg handig apparaat als je kijkt naar de DI mogelijkheden. Di out rechtstreeks in de p.a. bij gigs of direct in het mengpaneel in de studio. (heb ik zelf nog geen ervaring mee)

Voordat ik de RBI kocht heb ik ook het Sansamp Bass Driver pedaal getest. De RBI is hiervan de (19") opvolger en vind hem persoonlijk ook net vetter klinken als het pedaal. Dat is natuurlijk voor iedereen weer anders.

Ik gebruik deze pre-amp voor een Markbass head.
