General
The Boss SYB-5's predecessor was the first bass synthesizer with a compact pedal size, and is still a favourite among experimental musicians. This newer version uses DSP technology to reproduce the low, deep and sharp sounds of classic analogue synthesizers, and is compatible with four, five and six-string bass guitars.
Effects of the SYB-5
All of the SYB-5's built-in synth sounds have been enhanced to ensure an even fatter, sharper tone. The pedal's eleven sounds are based on variations of three oscillator waveforms (saw, square and pulse) and filters that modulate according to the envelope and LFO adjustments you make. Use the improved Wave Shape mode, and the Bass Synth's sound are sharper than ever.
Operating the Bass Synthesizer
Thanks to the inclusion of an extra input, you're able to plug an external control pedal into the Boss SYB-5, so it's possible to adjust the filter cutoff and LFO rate with your foot. In modes 1 through 9, you can use the Bass Synthesizer's built-in pedal to hold a note and play other notes over it.
