General
That a brilliantly finished crash can also have a nice gritty layer is proven by the Sabian AAX Thin Crash Brilliant 17-inch. Partly due to its thin weight and brilliant finish, the basic sound of this chord is bright, but there is added low. This is due to the use of a hammer method with a larger striking surface, making the hits more visible and adding some complexity to the low end without being overpowering. The raw-finished bell enhances this effect a little. In addition, its small size ensures that this cymbal addresses quickly.
AAX Thin Crash Brilliant 17-inch and the "Autofocus Response" treatment
Sabian has a special cymbal treatment called "Autofocus Response". This balances all frequencies of the AAX Thin Crash Brilliant 17-inch and removes overtones. This effect persists at any volume, regardless of your playing strength. It doesn't matter whether you are accompanying a quiet balad or playing a blastbeat, this cymbal will always sound as desired.
