Wrote the following about Remo MF-1014-00 Ring Control 14-inch

Deze ring met schuimrubber dempt wel heel erg...je houdt geen toon meer over! Voor stil drummen thuis kan dat een uitkomst zijn maar kun je beter silent stroke vellen gebruiken. Alleen de ring (zonder het schuimrubber) werkt in een live situatie wat beter maar dempt nog steeds vrij veel. Nadeel is ook dat je weinig variatie hebt in demping. Moongel is veelzijdiger... Of koop een losse ring (of knip er één uit een oud vel, is een stuk goedkoper.) Het verbaast me eigenlijk dat deze ringen nog steeds te koop zijn. Al in de jaren 80/90 kon je ze kopen maar ik ben er nooit een fan van geweest.

Ik respecteer mijn buren, en mijn snare klinkt redelijk luid ten opzichte van de met gel gedempte toms. Met een gel lukte het niet om de snare stiller te maken, dus vroeg ik aan drumoloog Wim of hij daar een oplossing voor had. Ja, dus. Deze ring, die je tussen vel en shell rand plaatst, dempt de trillingsoverdracht en dus het geluid netjes. Je kunt hem met of zonder de mousse ring, die het vel zelf dempt, gebruiken. Heel handig en degelijk product.

Fijne dempring. Maakt het geluid van de toms lekker punchy en vet. Uitversterkt een voelbaar betere kick in het geluid.
nadeel is wel dat de ring wel overmatig dempt, overkill so to say.
Mijn advies, perfecte oplossing voor low en mid budget trommels. Snare zou ik niet doen, tenzij je echt voor een superkorte en droge pok gaat.
High end drums moet je niet zo maximaal dempen, dat klinkt zelf al goed..

Maakt van mijn 10 12 en 14 fusion toms (Yamaha St. Custom Birch) echt een fijn klinkende set.
