The Special 20 harmonica caused a real revolution in the 1970s. This was, in fact, the first harmonica with an ABS plastic comb. Most harmonica players agreed that this was absolutely not possible, because, according to them, a wooden comb produced the most beautiful tones. However, nothing could be further from the truth! Hohner has convinced the world of its ability. After 100 years of wooden combs, the switch was made. The advantages: it plays a lot more comfortably, as the mouthpiece is also plastic and the comb does not swell over time, which wooden combs do.

With a range of three octaves, this harmonica is tuned in the key of Eb. This makes it usable as a crossharp for music in Bb.

The Hohner Special 20 is used by many international stars, including by Bob Dylan and Mickey Raphael (band member in Willie Nelson's band).
