General
This compact effect pedal by Electro Harmonix is a reissue of the original Hot Tubes overdrive. EHX noticed that the legendary vintage Hot Tubes effect was still much in demand and responded by issuing this compact, modern Nano update. The Hot Tubes Nano is equipped with CMOS overdrive circuitry, ensuring powerful tone amplification that really comes into its own when its combined with a tube amplifier. The stomp box has a typical EHX design with a durable metal housing that can take a hit, and its looks are similar to those of its predecessor.
Hot Tubes Nano: reissued charm
A foot switch with LED indicator enables you to turn the distortion on and off. A trio of controls - volume, overdrive and tone - allows for a wide range of different sounds, from subtle to powerfully overdriven. Naturally, the Hot Tube Nano pedal has a true bypass feature, which means it won't 'contaminate' your effect chain. The tone circuit can also be bypassed for untainted distorted delight. In short, the Hot Tubes Nano is a modern, compact and very reasonably priced edition of the good old Hot Tubes.

Ik gebruik de EHX Hot Tubes in combinatie met een Orange Micro Terror amp en niet als stand alone overdrive. De Orange Micro Terror staat op een leuke overdrive en met de Hot Tubes erbij geeft mij een stevige rocksound voor begeleiding. Voor de meer hardrockgeluiden gebruik ik de EHX Glove. Maar voor de begeleidingspartijen van rocknummers gebruik ik de EHX Hot Tubes en dat geeft een hele goede sound.

Utilisé pour Basse exclusivement. Donc mon avis perso :
+ le prix
+ le son correct et les possibilité et variations sonores
- encore et toujours ces footswitchs durs et très bruyants...décidément "attachés" à toutes les pédales EHX.
- Une petite perte (mais bien audible) dans les graves : Un potard de Blend aurait été le bienvenu...

Ontzettend mooie tube-achtige overdrive. Ik kan er alle kanten mee op: van lead-gitaren dikker maken maar toch clean houden van felle dikke overdrive voor lead-gitaren en van een tube-overdrive simulerend randje bij slaggitaren tot een volle dikke bak aan geluid. Ik zou er bijna meerdere kopen om de veelzijdigheid van het pedaal binnen 1 nummer optimaal te kunnen gebruiken. Ik speel op 70's transistor amps (Pearl, Kustom) en wat ik soms mis, vooral bij lead-gitaren, maakt dit pedaal meer dan goed.

Pédale overdrive / essayée sur un ampli à lampes FENDER BLUES DELUXE REISSUE + GIBSON ES 335 ET LP
Les différents essais que j'ai lus dans la presse étaient très positifs . Et c'est justifié . Il y a un grain très particulier sur les basses , les aigus ressortent bien . Je l'ai aussi essayée avec une TS 808 : on arrive à avoir un crunch très chaud . Avec l'ampli à lampes c'est un régal . Le son des guitares est bien respecté .
On mettant l'overdrive au 1/4 j ai pu boosté un peu une MXR WYLDE en lui donnant une sonorité légèrement plus agressive . Par contre avec une BOOS DS2 : pas d'interêt
Le potentiel de cette pédale est étonnant et vu le prix ......

Een soms wat ondergewaardeerd pedaal omdat de verwachtingen niet altijd de juiste zijn, het is geen moderne overdrive en zeker geen strakke distortion. Dit pedaal klinkt, mits je de drive rond de middenpositie gebruikt al naar gelang je gitaarelement, warm, vet en organisch. Altijd moeilijk te omschrijven, maar je geluid 'komt tot leven'. Ik gebruik 'm zelf wel in combinatie met een buizenversterker - hoe e.e.a. eventueel op een transistorversterker klinkt weet ik niet. Met de drive knop in de hogere standen wordt het trouwens wel een erg verzadigde overdrive. De kracht van de Hot Tubes ligt naar mijn mening echt in het wat subtielere gebruik. Qua sound kun je eens luisteren naar het werk van The Rolling Stones begin jaren 70. De naam van het pedaal is perfect gekozen, als ik 'm aanzet voel je de buizen bijna meer gaan gloeien!
