The VOX Valvenergy Series Cutting Edge pedal has been built to make any metal-addict's dreams a reality. Think tight and fat riffs and uncompromised, definition-rich tone shaped by the authentic warmth and lush harmonic distortion of a next-gen Nutube valve. While the control pots that line the face of this pedal speak for themselves, the additional Tight pot offers in-depth power over the shape of your output. In the lower settings, the sound gets loose and more elastic, then tightens the further you push it to the right, until you get the kind of immense, extreme tightness that's so loved by any Djent fanatic. Since this is a Valvenergy Series stompbox, it has a fully analogue circuit where the 9 Volt power is internally boosted to 15 Volts, leaving you with increased headroom and improved dynamic response at a higher volume.

The Cutting Edge: Connection Modes

The Cutting Edge offers three connection settings via the Mode switch fitted on the back. Standard gives you the option of hooking the pedal up to your amplifier via the instrument-level; Preamp enables the Copperhead to be set up as a preamp for your amplifier; and Cab-Sim delivers a line-level output signal enhanced by a speaker simulation so that you can connect the pedal to a mixing desk or audio interface for direct recording without the need for an external speaker cabinet.

Flip Channels with Multiple Pedals

Another thoughtful addition is the switch function where two pedals can be coupled using a standard 3.5mm mini-jack cable via the CH-SW input, so that one pedal can be active, while the other is bypassed, essentially mimicking the 'channel switching' principle of an amplifier. Up to three pedals can be linked using a 3.5mm stereo split-Y cable to simulate a three channel setup and switch between different shades of distortion, overdrive, or cleans and crunches, while your amplifier stays set to a clean channel. Meanwhile, the face of this stompbox has been finished with an incredibly clear OLED screen that displays an oscilloscope, providing a lush visual representation of the influence of the pot settings over the waveform, which is nothing short of awesome.
