In the Soundscape, we might be witness to an LR Baggs masterpiece. Three years worth of work and development has gone into what is initially a preamplifier for acoustic guitars. But, what this pedal really does is deliver an amplified sound that actually represents the pure unplugged tone of your guitar, rather than the tone of a piëzo pickup, which a lot of musicians simply avoid using altogether. What would be preferred is a highly dependable device, maybe pedal-sized, that removes all the microphones and other trimmings and reproduces nothing but the resonance of an acoustic guitar. The Soundscape is precisely this pedal-sized and dependable device. However, you will need a phone with an iOS or Android operating system so you can use the ingenious Acoustic Live App.

The Pure Sound of Your Guitar

Controlling the Soundscape is astoundingly simple considering what it does. Open the app on your phone, play a few chords, do a little picking or mess around with a riff or three and, via the integrated microphone in your phone, a profile or 'Voiceprint' is generated and then sent, via Bluetooth to the Soundscape pedal. Then, as usual, connect your guitar to the pedal and it'll automatically blend any incoming signal from your pickup with the previously registered, unplugged Voiceprint, so you get the faithful acoustic warmth of your guitar from the PA or amplifier with no trace of that clinical piëzo-sound. Up to 100 guitar profiles can be added and saved; for full control, you have access to an equaliser and an anti-feedback function that's also tailor-made for your individual guitar profile.
