General
The Schecter Charles Berthoud CB-4 LH is the left-handed signature bass guitar of the renowned bassist Charles Berthoud, who is best known for his impressive two-handed tapping technique. This model has been designed as a versatile instrument for bassists seeking a high degree of control and playing freedom. The body is made of ash and features a flamed maple top, whilst the neck is constructed from walnut and padauk with a one-piece construction. Thanks to the Ultra Access cutaway, the higher frets are easily accessible. The 34-inch scale length and Thin C neck ensure a familiar, comfortable playing experience.
EMG pickups and active electronics
The CB-4 LH features two EMG 35HZ humbuckers, one in the neck position and one at the bridge. These passive pickups deliver a powerful and clear foundation, whilst the active EMG 3-band B64 EQ offers extensive options for further shaping the sound. The master volume and blend controls allow you to precisely adjust the balance between the two pickups. The 18V electronics provide ample dynamic headroom for a versatile tone. This combination is particularly well-suited to modern playing styles, where articulation, definition and a wide frequency range are key.
Designed for demanding bass playing
The rosewood fingerboard has a 16-inch radius and is fitted with 24 jumbo frets. The 38 mm wide nut and Thin C neck make quick position changes and complex playing techniques comfortable. The Schecter Diamond Custom Bass bridge, together with the Grover Bass 144 Series tuners, provides a solid foundation for reliable tuning and intonation. The bass comes fitted with D’Addario Bass Nickel Wound Long Scale NYXL45105 strings (.045–.105). The See Thru Black Satin finish and black hardware give the instrument a modern look. The matching SCSGR-UNIV6 case is available separately.
