General
The Schecter Charles Berthoud CB-4 is the first signature bass model from bassist and YouTube star Charles Berthoud, known for his impressive two-handed tapping technique. This 4-string bass has been designed for players seeking maximum control and a wide tonal range. The body is made of ash with a flamed maple top, whilst the neck is constructed from walnut and padauk. Thanks to the through-neck construction and Ultra Access, access to the higher frets is excellent. The 34-inch scale length, Thin C neck and 38 mm-wide nut provide a comfortable foundation for both traditional bass lines and advanced tapping techniques.
Two EMG 35HZ humbuckers
In terms of tone, the CB-4 is fitted with two EMG 35HZ humbuckers, one in the bridge position and one in the neck position. These passive pickups deliver a powerful, defined foundation that suits modern bass styles perfectly. The active electronics also feature an EMG 3-band B64 EQ, allowing you to precisely adjust the bass, midrange and treble. The master volume and blend controls also allow you to easily adjust the overall volume and the balance between the two pickups. This enables you to make the bass sound either tight and bright or fuller and more powerful, depending on your playing style and amplifier settings.
High-quality hardware and finish
The Schecter Diamond Custom Bass bridge, together with the Grover Bass 144 Series tuners, forms a reliable hardware combination. The black hardware complements the See Thru Black Satin finish and the flamed maple top perfectly. The rosewood fingerboard features 24 jumbo frets, whilst the 16-inch fingerboard radius offers a modern, flat playing experience. The bass comes fitted with D’Addario Bass Nickel Wound Long Scale NYXL45105 strings in a .045–.105 gauge. The SCSGR-6B case is specifically designed for this bass, but is sold separately. The model number is 2871.
