General
The Schecter FreeZesicle-4 is Ricky D.’s signature electric bass guitar. “The Freeze” Smith, a musician, songwriter and producer who has collaborated with artists such as Prince, Snoop Dogg and Janet Jackson. This four-string bass guitar immediately catches the eye thanks to its distinctive Freeze Purple finish, white EMG pickups and gold hardware. The body is made from swamp ash, whilst the bolt-on Canadian Rock Maple neck provides a stable and responsive foundation. The ebony fingerboard offers a fast playing experience and features 24 Narrow Jumbo frets, giving you a wide playing range.
Active EMG electronics
For a versatile and powerful tone, the FreeZesicle-4 is fitted with a white EMG 35J in the bridge position and a white EMG 35P at the neck. This active pickup configuration combines the character of J- and P-style bass tones. The active EMG 3-band B64 EQ gives you extensive control over your tone, alongside the master volume and master tone controls. This makes this signature bass guitar suitable for a wide range of playing styles, from tight and punchy grooves to powerful modern bass lines. The active electronics are powered by an 18-volt battery setup.
Playing comfort and flexible bridge
The 34-inch scale length makes this Schecter a long-scale bass guitar. The C-shaped neck profile, the 38 mm wide Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut and the 12-inch fingerboard radius all contribute to a comfortable playing experience. The Schecter Custom bridge is fully adjustable and offers both top-load and string-thru options. This means you can route the strings either through the bridge or through the body. The bass is fitted with Grover Bass tuning machines with Vintage Keys and D’Addario Bass Nickel Wound NYXL45105 strings. A matching Schecter SCSGR-UNIV6 case is available separately.
