General

The Schecter J-4 Sixx is the signature bass model of Nikki Sixx, co-founder and bassist of Mötley Crüe. This 4-string electric bass guitar combines an alder body with a bolt-on neck made of roasted maple and a fingerboard also made of roasted maple. The Worn Ivory finish has a relic effect, giving the instrument a distinctive, well-worn look. The 34-inch scale length and 38 mm nut width are in line with a familiar bass guitar design, whilst the Thin-C neck profile ensures a comfortable playing experience.

MonsterTone-J pickups

In terms of tone, the J-4 Sixx is fitted with two Schecter USA MonsterTone-J pickups: one in the bridge position and one in the neck position. The passive electronics feature separate volume controls for both pickups and a tone control. Thanks to the push-pull function on the tone control, coil-tap is available, allowing you to further vary the tone character. The 21 Narrow X-Jumbo frets and the 16-inch fingerboard radius make the neck suitable for both solid bass lines and more dynamic playing.

Hardware and finish

The Schecter Custom Bass bridge supports both string-through and top-load string mounting. The WSC KG400 tuners ensure accurate tuning, whilst the black hardware contrasts beautifully with the Worn Ivory finish. The bass comes fitted with D’Addario Bass Nickel Wound Long Scale NYXL45105 strings in gauge .045–.105, as per the supplied product specifications. An SCSGR-UNIV6 case is a suitable match, but is sold separately. The model number of this bass is 355.
