General

The BB434M is an electric bass guitar from Yamaha's upgraded BB 400 series. Its alder body and 5-piece maple/mahogany neck are slimmer and lighter than before for improved playing comfort and sound. The machine heads are lighter too so that this Broad Bass is perfectly balanced. Everything about the BB434M makes it an excellent choice for advanced players. Read on to find out more.

BB434M: construction

The M in the name refers to the maple fretboard which not only contrasts with the body for a stunning look, it adds brightness to the overall sound too. The neck is bolted on to the body using six screws, two of which are mitred. This, in combination with the Vintage Plus Light bridge where the strings run through to the body at an angle of 45°, results in optimal resonance and a long sustain.

Versatile sound

The BB434M is equipped with two YGD Custom V5 pickups: one passive single-coil and one passive split single-coil. The pickups have Alnico V magnets that deliver versatile authentic BB sounds with plenty of brightness to ensure they cut through any mix. There are separate volume controls for each pickup and a master tone control that allow you to adjust your sound to perfection.

Wrote the following about Yamaha BB Series BB434M

I already own one of Yamahas excellent trbx304 bass guitars but was looking for something more in the style of a jazz bass with its own unique tones. For months I considered a Fender and even tried a few but I was never completely convinced with the build quality from their various countries of origin. The build quality of the BB434 is amazing as are the tones and the sustain. The six bolt neck fixing gives a noticeable solid feel to this guitar and it plays very nicely indeed. I would recommend you try one before you spend much more money on another popular brand as you will be pleasantly surprised.
