Kim Thayil is an American guitarist, best known as the guitarist and co-founder of the iconic rock band Soundgarden. The foundation of his sound has been the Guild S-100 Polara for over 30 years. With this Kim Thayil S-100 Polara, Guild brings an affordable signature version of this electric guitar, finished in a vintage white high-gloss finish with fancy gold-plated hardware. The fans among us will certainly appreciate the little details like the King Animal neck pin cover and the Badmotorfinger backplate.
Kim Thayil Polara: solid riffs
The base of the Guild Kim Thayil S-100 Polara is formed by a mahogany solid body loaded with two Guild HB-1 Dual-Coil pickups and a phase switch. This gives you those nice solid sounds that Thayil is known for. The mahogany neck features a vintage soft U-profile and a bound Indian rosewood fingerboard with pearloid blocks as position markers. Thanks to the set-neck neck construction, all 22 narrow jumbo frets are easy to reach. In short, the Guild Polara Kim Thayil is asking to be played!

The Kim Thayil Guild is a solid, well made guitar. The neck is thick but not too big and nice feel. This looks like an SG but much more weighty with beautiful thick sound. Not just for Soundgarden fans but for anyone loving the double cut shape with the ability to give out a full sound yet very versatile.
