General

The Sterling by Music Man Cory Wong Signature StingRay II is designed for guitarists looking for that recognisable, crisp ‘chop’ sound, but as a more affordable alternative to the more expensive Music Man Cory Wong models. You get an alder body with a satin finish, a roasted maple neck (also satin) and a rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets. Thanks to the HH configuration with two ceramic humbuckers, you have a powerful, low-noise foundation that holds up well whether playing clean or with drive. The vintage tremolo allows for subtle vibrato and expressive accents.

Designed with Cory Wong

Cory Wong is known for his work with Vulfpeck, amongst other things, and as a session and live guitarist, where timing, dynamics and a super-direct attack are key. For his signature guitars, he wanted an instrument that supports that percussive funk approach: a fast-playing neck, consistent intonation and a sound that remains tight, clear and yet full in a mix. This Sterling model follows that philosophy, with straightforward controls (volume and tone) and a 3-way switch for quick switching between settings. Ideal for rhythmic work, tight rhythm guitar and sparkling solos.
