General

Introduced in 2015, the Yamaha Revstar series consists of no fewer than six different models in various price ranges. The RS720B is one of the top-shelf models, which shows in its high-quality hardware and its remarkable finish. Its flamed maple top in Ash Grey was carefully brushed with steel wool to give the guitar an authentic, aged look. Furthermore, two 'Tron-style pickups deliver a characteristic and recognisable sound. To complete the picture, the Revstar RS720B is also equipped with a Bigsby B5 vibrato unit.

Tron-Style Pickups and Bigsby Tailpiece

In designing these pickups, Yamaha carefully studied the classic 'Tron pickups. Strictly speaking, they're still humbuckers, but they're fitted with a much larger Alnico magnet, larger poles and significantly fewer copper-wire windings. This results in a pickup that offers more output than a single-coil model, but decreases the treble loss typical of standard humbuckers. In short, it offers more power and more bite and twang, or whatever you want. Of course, the Bigsby vibrato unit is a great match for these powerful pickups!

Yamaha Revstar

The Yamaha Revstar series is a completely new guitar, designed by Yamaha from the ground up and combines the past with the present. The RS720B is Ash Grey is one of the top-shelf models from the series, which is apparent in its high-quality mahogany body and gorgeous flamed maple top. Furthermore, the more upscale Revstars are equipped with a Dry Switch that allows you to emphasise trebles without muffling other frequencies, like you would with a standard tone control knob. Finally, to reinforce the RS720B's luxury character, the guitar comes with a solid Yamaha gig bag.
